If you want the clock to be run down, run the ball. When you’re tackled, the clock keeps running. If you are able to make first downs, this strategy of running down the clock is incredibly effective.
Remember that making a running play is a little different than making a receiving play. You want to take the football from the quarterback with only one hand. You don’t cover it up with both arms until you are about to be tackled. Make sure that you hold onto the ball until you hear the whistle stopping play.
Remember that all goals are achievable if you try hard enough. You need to have a positive mindset as you practice and play the game. You CAN be an amazing football player! If you keep this in mind, you will find you have more drive and passion for the game as you play.
Keep your knees bent as you practice and play. When you straighten your knees, you could injury your hips and lose your maneuverability. Use squats to build your leg muscles and try to get to the point you can lift twice as much as you weigh as you do ten reps.
Remember, you don’t need to tackle to have a fun game of football. There are many variations on the game that are just as fun while being a lot safer. Try a game of touch football. Instead of tackling, if the person with the ball is touched by the opposition, then it’s a tackle. How much time is remaining on the clock? If your game is almost over and your team has the ball, running the clock out can help guarantee a win. A receiver must work to provide a target for their quarterback. The goal is for the ball to be delivered to your midsection. If you are to the quarterback’s right, place your left arm on top of your right arm. Likewise, if the ball is to the left, place the right arm atop of the left arm. This allows you to defend the ball to the best of your ability.
